I've spent the last 6 months working on a large-scale application using React, and before that, I worked on an Angular project for about a year. My colleague, Jake, suggested we explore the differences between the two frameworks for our next project. We were particularly interested in performance, scalability, and development speed.

When I first tried to optimize our React application for production, I realized that the default settings weren't enough. We had to implement shouldComponentUpdate and React.memo to prevent unnecessary re-renders. On the other hand, Angular has a more opinionated approach to change detection, which can be both a blessing and a curse.
