Loading...Introduction to Deploying Laravel on AWS
When I first started working with Laravel, I quickly realized that deploying and scaling it on AWS was not as straightforward as I thought. Last quarter, our team discovered that our Laravel application was struggling to handle the increased traffic, and we had to act fast to ensure our users didn't experience any downtime. Here's what I learned when deploying and scaling our Laravel application on AWS.
Setting Up Your AWS Environment
Before you can deploy your Laravel application, you need to set up your AWS environment. This includes creating an EC2 instance, setting up a database, and configuring your security groups. I realized that using AWS CloudFormation was the best way to create and manage our infrastructure as code. We used the following CloudFormation template to create our EC2 instance and database:
AWSTemplateFormatVersion: '2010-09-09'
Resources:
Ec2Instance:
Type: 'AWS::EC2::Instance'
Properties:
ImageId: !FindInMap [RegionMap, !Ref 'AWS::Region', 'AMI'
]
InstanceType: t2.micro
Database:
Type: 'AWS::RDS::DBInstance'
Properties:
DBInstanceClass: db.t2.
